BFI National Archive v the Cutty Sark on BBC Radio 4

This morning's edition of National Treasures on BBC Radio 4 saw the Cutty Sark pitted against the BFI NationalArchive. And the archive won!

The panel was composed of former culture minister Mark Fisher MP, businesswoman Martha Lane Fox and cultural historian Robert Hewison along with decisions analyst Larry Phillips. They heard from two speakers in favour of the Cutty Sark followed by Amanda Nevill and film-maker Terence Davies defending the BFI National Archive.

Terence was poetic in his defence of the archive as a library of moments in history. All of the speakers seemed to warm to and share his passion for our collections.

If you’d like to use the BBC's listen again service the programme is available on the BBC website for one week or it will be repeated this evening (Wed 15 Aug) at 9.30pm. You can also cast a vote to see whether members of the public share the views of the judging panel and early indications are that the public do agree.
