We present two nights of outstanding contemporary dance on film from the BBC Archive in conjunction with Dance Umbrella 2008.
We are delighted to present two nights of outstanding contemporary dance on film from the BBC Archive in conjunction with Dance Umbrella 2008. Curated by the festival's Artistic Director Betsy Gregory and Southbank Centre's former Head of Dance & Performance, Julia Carruthers, in association with Bob Lockyer (former Executive Producer, Dance Programmes, at the BBC), the programmes feature early work by choreographers Michael Clark, Richard Alston, Aletta Collins, Tom Jobe, Jonathan Burrows and Jonathan Lunn.
There will also be a fascinating Omnibus overview of the 1984 Dance Umbrella festival, plus an interview with US dance critic Sally Banes, author of Terpsichore in Sneakers.
