Linha de Passe + Walter Salles in Conversation
We welcome Walter Salles to BFI Southbank to discuss his latest film.
The acclaimed Brazilian director joins us for an on-stage interview following the screening of his latest film, Linha de Passe, set on the streets of contemporary Sao Paulo.
Linha de Passe
A preview of Walter Salles' latest film, which won Sandra Corveloni the Best Actress prize in Cannes. The film, co-directed with Daniela Thomas, is set on the streets of contemporary Sao Paulo, and focuses on a family trying (through football, the Church, work, etc) to survive in a city blighted by unemployment, poverty and crime. The acting by non-professionals is terrific, while the camerawork, cutting and documentary-style scenes using locals as 'extras' all make for a rare authenticity. Once again, Gustavo Santoalalla's music fits the light, quick narrative perfectly.
