Binoche turns femme fatale in Louis Malle and David Hare's adaptation of Josephine Hart's 'scandalous' novel, in which a high-profile politician (Irons) falls for his son's fiancée (Binoche) with tragic consequences. Like a sphinx, her French art-dealer character Anna mesmerises the men she encounters in this London-based story. Although Damage features notorious sex scenes and nudity, it is still Binoche's face which is the centre of attention.
